The Label Factor:
While you probably can’t tell from the photos, the Kristoff Corojo Limitada label is made out of a leather or leather-like substance. Pleather, if you will. The bright orange includes text that tells you not only the brand and type of cigar you are smoking, but also let’s you know to expect “Elite Cuban Taste”. Does it deliver? Let’s find out.
What We Liked:
After taking in the label and gorgeous toothy wrapper, I was greeted by surprisingly strong raisin notes on the pre-light draw. Unlike the Ave Maria, the raisins are only present before lighting. I was fine with this, as the only time I find myself craving raisins is when they are covered in chocolate.
Instead, the Corojo Limitada brings a profile that can only be described as “meaty.” Like a steak, the Kristoff fills your mouth with thick and chewy smoke. The result is nothing less than delicious, with the elite Cuban flavors of leather, earth, grass, pepper, and yes…even meat pleasing the taste buds. If not executed correctly, grassiness can ruin a cigar for me. Fortunately, the Kristoff doesn’t suffer this fate and brings with it an interesting mossy note.
When Nick handed me this stick, my expectations couldn’t have been lower and it’s difficult for me to rationalize why. I think it’s simply that I never see or hear anybody talking about the Kristoff brand. That needs to change. The Corojo Limitada is delicious.
What We Didn’t Like:
I enjoyed the Kristoff Corojo Limitada from start to finish. That being said, the flavors didn’t change in any considerable way throughout the stick. If you are the type of person that demands evolution in your smoking process, you may not find a lot to love here. However, if you are the kind of person that likes deliciousness, I don’t think you’ll find yourself disappointed.
Should You Try/Buy It:
I can’t be the only one out there who keeps various brands off their radar for no rational reason. Yet, here I am, thinking fondly on the Corojo Limitada and wondering when I can work these back into my smoking rotation. Don’t be like me. Grab a Kristoff and give it a try!
