Veritas Torch Habano Review

The Label Factor:

The first thing you’ll notice about the band is the hand grabbing the cigar, which calls to mind a revolutionary propaganda poster. After further examination, you’ll realize the background is a skyline. Curious for more detail, I reached out to Veritas Marketing Director Chris Weber about the design:

The band is the skyline of Pittsburgh, PA, which is especially relevant to me as my family is from there. Pittsburgh is my second home and a place where both my parents families have been raised. My father’s father worked in the steel mills and my mother’s father was a policeman rising to the rank of Commander of the North Side of Pittsburgh. So black and gold flow through my veins and I wanted to pay tribute to that on the band for the Torch.

Having been born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, I find this pretty cool. It’s probably a good thing Chris didn’t grow up in Scranton, as the label would then be filled with abandonment and despair.

Tatuaje Black Label 2013 Corona Gorda Review

The Label Factor:

With so many editions of the Tatuaje Black Label having been released over the years, it can often be difficult to keep them straight. Perhaps that’s why the 2013 Corona Gorda features a label with a little more bling. I think they could have gone the extra mile and referred to the stick as the Tatuaje Black Label Lil Jon. Or, if you wanted to give it a more Spanish vibe, the Tatuaje Black Label Pequeño Juan.

Liga Privada Único Papas Fritas Review

Price: $5.99 (Buy)             No. Smoked: 2

Liga Privada Papas Fritas Review

The Label Factor:

I think the majority of Papas Fritas marketing money went to the kick-ass packaging as opposed to the somewhat subdued label. That’s not to say the label is ugly; it’s not. It just doesn’t quite live up to the awesomeness that is the rest of the Liga Privada line.

La Musa Mοῦσα Review

Brand: Emilio Cigars                Country: Nicaragua

Price: ~$9.00                     No. Smoked: 1

La Musa Mοῦσα Review

The Label Factor:

This cigar has been on my radar for some time because of this label. It’s in Greek! I don’t know of any other cigars that feature anything besides Spanish or English on the label.  If Uncle Jessie from Full House were shopping around for a cigar, he’d probably settle on this one. Because it’s Greek…

Aside from the Greek, this label is all over the place stylistically.  With three different languages and three different fonts, the La Musa suffers a bit from multiple personality disorder, a characteristic that extends beyond the label to the flavor profile of the cigar.
