Veritas Torch Habano Review

The Label Factor:

The first thing you’ll notice about the band is the hand grabbing the cigar, which calls to mind a revolutionary propaganda poster. After further examination, you’ll realize the background is a skyline. Curious for more detail, I reached out to Veritas Marketing Director Chris Weber about the design:

The band is the skyline of Pittsburgh, PA, which is especially relevant to me as my family is from there. Pittsburgh is my second home and a place where both my parents families have been raised. My father’s father worked in the steel mills and my mother’s father was a policeman rising to the rank of Commander of the North Side of Pittsburgh. So black and gold flow through my veins and I wanted to pay tribute to that on the band for the Torch.

Having been born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania, I find this pretty cool. It’s probably a good thing Chris didn’t grow up in Scranton, as the label would then be filled with abandonment and despair.

EloGio Serie Habano Review

Brand: EloGio                                 Country: Nicaragua
Size: Corona Extra 6 x 42              Wrapper: Habano
Price: $7.85                             No. Smoked: 2

EloGio Serie Habano Review

The Label Factor:

Simple and clean is the theme of the EloGio Serie Habano. Make sure you take note at the B&M of which cigar you bought, as there is no indication on the label of which EloGio you are smoking. The black text with a gold background is something that we in Nashville are very familiar with. If Vanderbilt University ever branches out into the art of cigar-making, they should totally rip this off.

Tatuaje Black Label Review Header

The Label Factor:

The most interesting thing about the Tatuaje Black Label is not the label, which follows the same pattern as the Seleccion De Cazador and Havana VI, but the story behind the stick. When Pete Johnson, founder of Tatuaje, travelled to Cuba, a local man handed him a cigar that he had rolled himself. While not the prettiest stick, the flavors and aromas resonated with Pete. So, after returning to Nicaragua, Pete worked with the Garcia family to recreate the experience. The Black Label is that recreation.

Quesada Oktoberfest Review

The Label Factor:

Being a sucker for all things Germany, the first time I saw the Quesada Oktoberfest label I knew that I had to try it. I’m glad they took the classy road and avoided using girls in dirndls just to get attention. If it weren’t for the trademark Quesada leaf making an appearance, you would be well within your rights to mistake this stick for one made by CAO, with obvious similarities to many of their brands, including the Brazilia and Columbia.
