Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project Review

The Label Factor:

Drew Estate continues with the good labels here.  Wait…what?  My producer is telling me this isn’t a Drew Estate cigar.  Okay.  This is the Genesis The Project by Ramon Bueso.  Yes, I see that on the label.  Okay, but what about the eerily similar style?  I mean, it has Genesis in cursive against a lightly checkered white background.   I guess adding that black bar at the bottom is the biggest distinguishing factor.  And, now that I inspect more closely, the paper it’s printed on is of a lower quality.  Still, though, I love the style of Liga labels so it would be hypocritical of me not to like this as well.

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro Review

Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story Maduro Review

The Label Factor:

I have a bone to pick with Arturo Fuente labels and it’s a pretty serious bone in my book.  The labels on just about all of these cigars are very uninformative. What cigar am I smoking? I have no idea! Well, in this case, I do have an idea, because I bought it. But, do you understand my consternation? Aside from the lack of description, the label also fails in the “looking cool” category. This is just my opinion and may not be universally shared, but the label is ugly. I will say, however, that the Hemingway Short Story Maduro was a good lesson for me in not judging cigars by their labels, because daaayyum, this was a good smoke.

CAO Brazilia Review!

Brand:  CAO                         Country: Nicaragua
Size:  Gol ! 5×56                Wrapper: Arapiraca
 Price:  $6.80 (Buy)

The Label Factor:

CAO tends to do a nice job with their labels, especially considering most of their cigars are on the middle to lower end of the price spectrum. The Brazilia does a lovely job incorporating the flag of Brazil. The green, yellow and blue really stand out when sitting on a shelf or in your humidor.

My Uzi Weighs A Ton Review!

Brand:   Drew Estate                 Country:  Nicaragua
   Size:   Robusto 5×60              Wrapper:  Maduro
 Price:   $8.90 (Buy)

Pre-Light

The Label Factor:

You know the mold? Well it’s broken with this one. You won’t find a shiny embossed label on the My Uzi. Instead you find a substantial text-based label that was interesting enough to lure us in. The name of this cigar is a full sentence, so you need a pretty large label just to fit everything on there.

It was hard to judge this book by its cover because it’s unlike any other covers I’ve seen. In the end, the label leaves you with a strong, bold impression. Very much the opposite of the impression left by the cigar itself.
